About Karen

Originally from Philadelphia, Karen called Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco, and Miami home before finally settling in Scottsdale, Arizona. Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked as a professional ballet dancer. Her work in the arts has led her to see people through a creative lens and to appreciate each person’s unique idiosyncrasies and strengths.

In session, Karen uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and EMDR (trauma reprocessing therapy) techniques. She loves hearing peoples’ stories and believes therapy is a dynamic process that leads to positive change and growth. She enjoys helping clients develop greater self-compassion and understanding of their personal values and dreams, so that they can lead more authentic lives.

Recognizing that therapy can be difficult, as one sifts through many things while identifying strengths and uncovering wounds, Karen honors the courage and determination it takes to embark upon a therapeutic relationship. She enjoys working with individuals struggling with perfectionism, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, body image disorders, career transitions, decision-making struggles, depression, enmeshment and identity issues, as well as people with a history of sexual trauma or narcissistic abuse, and the children of personality-disordered parents.

A Licensed Associate Counselor, Karen holds a Master of Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Arizona State University. She has been working in the field since 2021, with experience at ASU’s Counseling Services and the Phoenix Counseling Collective. Deeply committed to each client’s best interest, Karen stays active in peer study groups and has a strong referral network to ensure her clients find the correct support for their specific needs.

When not working with clients, you might find Karen caring for her two children, practicing Pilates, taking a ballet class with friends, or exploring naturopathic medicine and holistic nutrition. She also enjoys reading autobiographies, drinking coffee at one of her favorite local coffee shops, and watching a great show.
